All new for Microsoft Teams from October 2022

Microsoft Teams is used by millions of people every month, and it regularly gains new features to provide a better experience. Every month, Microsoft brings together all the new features of the application in a roundup (opens in a new tab). At the beginning of November, Microsoft delivered its usual summary.

Sit down and grab your favorite drink, because it’ll be a while to go through everything that shipped to Microsoft Teams in the last month.


Since meetings are central to the Teams experience, Microsoft added several features to them last month. Meeting hosts and presenters can now assign seats in Together mode. It is also possible to have shared meeting content appear in separate windows.

Teams Premium now also supports real-time translation for 40 spoken languages.

Teams now offers a more detailed call history, including how a call came in and whether it was forwarded or forwarded. Call history can also show recordings and transcripts.

Microsoft combined the best of Microsoft Teams templates with SharePoint site templates in October. The company also added the ability for tenant admins to set Adobe Acrobat as the default application in the Teams admin center for PDFs.

Suggested replies are now available in Teams, allowing users to select generated messages with a single click. Teams has also supported video clips, which are short videos that you can quickly edit directly in the app before sending.

Usage analytics for Teams admins and users have been updated. Microsoft has updated the Teams admin center usage reports and end user analytics in Teams to have the same data source as the Microsoft 365 admin center Teams usage reports.

Front line workers

Microsoft added a small handful of features for frontline workers last month. Approval creators can now save a request as a PDF and easily print it. List users can now also create and manage approval requests in SharePoint lists.

Many features rolled out to government Teams customers in October. As a reminder, most options head to other versions of Teams first and then ship to government users.
