MYAGDI: A road construction contractor was exposed by displaying his photo and smearing it with soot for delaying the construction of the Beni-Darbang road. The construction of the roadway contracted with Lama-Samanantar JV Company was seriously delayed.
Now, a flex-print photo of a Jip Chhiring llama hangs by a roadside in Damara in Beni-6 municipality. The road is muddy. Lama, originally from Dolakha district, owns a construction company.
Likewise, Achyut Kharel is the owner of Samanantar Construction Company. The official representative of the road construction project is Daya Ram Thapa.
However, it is not disclosed who hung the photo exhibiting the contractor. The recent term of the twice-extended contract expired last March. But the first Beni-Darbang causeway package covering the Beni-Sim section has only made 55% physical progress so far.
Construction workers had stopped work after the application of containment last April following the second wave of coronavirus.
The pavement is muddy and landslide debris is piling up, causing a lot of inconvenience to the movement and transport of people.
The company Lama-Samanantar JV was contracted four years ago to asphalt a 12.5 km roadway at a cost of Rs 455 million. He was asked to complete the business in 18 months.
The Office of Infrastructure Development, Myagdi informed that there are now no conditions for the company to obtain the extension of its mandate for the construction of the road.
