Along with Parallels 17, you will need to download the Windows 11 installer file. If you are using an Intel-based Mac, you need to download the Windows 11 ISO file from Microsoft website. If you’re using one of the new Apple Silicon-powered Macs, you’ll need to download the Windows 11 ARM version; at the time of writing, the latter is part of the insider build program, so you will need to sign up for the Windows Insider programthen download the Windows ARM64 Insider Preview installer file.
Windows 11 installation steps using Parallels on Mac are the same for both X86 and X64ARM versions. After installing Parallels on your Mac and downloading the required Windows 11 file, launch the Parallels Desktop application and follow these steps:
- Click the Install Windows option, then click Continue.
- Parallels will now automatically find the Windows 11 installer file on your computer. If it does not, you can click on the Choose manually option and navigate to the download location to select the file. Click Continue to continue the installation process.
- Parallels will ask you for your use case for Windows 11 operating system. Choose the right option according to your needs and continue.
- Now set the name and location of the installation file and click on the Create button to start the installation.
Windows 11 installation will now start and Parallels will handle the whole process automatically. You can see the progress in a small virtual machine window on your Mac. Installation only takes a few minutes, so you won’t have to wait long. When the process is complete, you will see a message informing you that it is complete.
