How to Zoom on a Windows PC


Windows offers different ways to zoom in on your screen, allowing you to get a closer look at your items. We’ll show you how to zoom in and out of your photos, videos, web pages, and other stuff on your Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC.

Use Magnifier to Zoom Anywhere on Windows

To zoom in on any screen on your PC, use Windows’ built-in Magnifier app. The sole purpose of this app is to help you take a closer look at the icons, menus, and other elements on your screen.

To use this method, first launch the Magnifier app on your PC. You can do this by opening the menu “To start up”looking for “Magnifying glass” and selecting the app from the search results.

As soon as the magnifying glass opens, it zooms in on your current screen. You will find that the contents of your screen are now magnified. Move your cursor to navigate your screen.

To zoom out, in the Magnifier app, click the icon “-” (less). You can also zoom out by closing the app.

And that’s how you identify even the smallest of objects on your PC screen. Very useful!

Use your web browser to zoom in on web pages

Almost all web browsers provide the ability to zoom in on your web pages. You can invoke this function using a keyboard shortcut or your browser menu.

To use it, first launch your favorite web browser and navigate to your webpage.

When your webpage is loaded, press Ctrl++ to zoom. It is the Ctrl key and the key “+” (more).

To zoom even more, press the same Ctrl++ keys.

You can then zoom out by pressing Ctrl+-. It is the Ctrl key and the key “-” (less).

If you prefer to use a graphical option, click on the menu icon in the upper right corner of your browser and use the icon “+” to zoom in and the icon “-” to zoom out.

Use the Photos app to zoom in on photos

To zoom in on an image, use your PC’s built-in Photos app.

First, open your image with Photos. To do this, right-click your image in File Explorer and choose Open With > Photos.

To zoom out, click the option “Zoom out” at the top. It is a magnifying glass icon with a sign “-“.

You can also zoom in by pressing Ctrl++ and zoom out by pressing Ctrl+-. You can also Use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out of your photos.

Use VLC Media Player to Zoom Videos

To zoom in on your videos, use the free and open-source VLC Media Player app. This app offers an interactive zoom feature that you can use to enlarge parts of your video.

To do this, start by downloading and installing the VLC Media Player application on your PC. Then start your video with the app.

When your video opens, from the VLC menu bar at the top, select Tools > Effects and Filters.

Point: To deactivate the zoom function, deactivate the option “Interactive zoom” and click on “To register” followed by “Close”.

Back on the video page, in the upper left corner, you will see a small section of your video. Here, select the area of ​​the video you want to zoom in on, and that part will appear magnified in the large area.
