Video: Moose visits Bowhunter in Ground Blind

Breann Zietz was bow hunting for whitetail deer recently in North Dakota, but instead of having a big buck walk within range, she was visited by another member of the deer family – an original !

Zietz was hiding in an Ameristep ground blind, and while white-tailed deer are often wary of the “black hole” of an open-window blind, it’s clear that this female moose didn’t care. Here’s how Zietz described the once-in-a-lifetime encounter:

“If I had to guess, I’d give Nose Jammer field spray partial credit for this close encounter. As soon as this curious female moose got downwind of me, I think she almost smelled the scent of vanilla from the Nose Jammer spray in my blind She came to take a closer look.

“I’ll let the video speak for itself, but I’ll add that I was scared to death, my heart pounding, shaking, but excited. I didn’t know what to do, so I stood still as if I didn’t. I wasn’t there. I’ll never forget that moment.

“The very last second of the video, she tripped over the rope that anchors the wall. It shook the blind so much that I jumped out of my seat on my knees and accidentally stopped the video. The next sound I heard was of the scared moose running away. I mean after all, it’s just a nearly thousand pound animal. #ndoutdoors #moose #bowhunting #groundblind »
